I heard a homily one morning on EWTN by Fr. Joseph Mary and in his homely he spoke on how the year 2011 is coming to a close soon and is there anything that we can be thankful for that you received this year?

After him saying that, I could fill this whole page up with the things that I am happy and thankful for. You, my Brothers, for helping me thru the past year as GK and all the work we have done to pull this council together and 2012 we see another year with a whole lot more work that we have to accomplish.

At our last Program meeting we spoke of building a Bill Board on the float to promote the Knights Right to Life campaign, there was our March for Life on Jan. 23rd in Washington DC, and in February we want to have a Super Bowl party and Recruitment Drive for Fr. McGivney’s Founders Day. We are also gearing up for the sale of Palm Crosses for Lent which is right around the corner. All of these projects and events we will need the help from all of you my Brothers, again to make this an even better year. We need to recruit some younger members to help with the programs and participation from all, brothers: “Let’s Getter Done.”

We had a good couple of programs thank you to our Youth Director Kirk Herman which include our Essay and Substance Abuse Contest and the Council Free Throw. We will know more about this event at the end of January. Degrees, our council has put together a very impressive 1st Degree Team and it would be really nice for the members of our council to participate as a Black Robe Guard, Banner Bearer, or just to give support to your council’s degree team.It would mean a lot to the Team if you could try to come out and participate.

One last bit of History, ever wonder what they do with the old palm that is left over after it is all handed out? Well, the ashes that you receive on Ash Wednesday is guess what, the palm that was left over from Palm Sunday the year before which are burned and the ashes are used for Ash Wednesday. Bet you didn’t know that did you.

Brothers, I will close now and ask that as a “Band of Brothers,” that we all pitch in to help out with the programs coming up and keep the sick and distressed Brother in our prayers.

Vivat Jesus,
Patrick Sweeney Grand Knight, Council 2531

Sep/Oct Newsletter

KofC2531 SeptOct 2011[1]

Open Invitation To Attend Polish Heritage Event

You are cordially invited to join us on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 11:00 am. at Vineland City Hall, 640 E. I want to thank all those brothers that stepped up to the plate and chose their duties as Service Program Committee Directors in the council. Brother Jim Garton will be taking over for Albert Karwowski as our new Programs Director, he has fine organizational skills along with those other brothers chosen, the most important thing is, “You” have to make the Program Meetings that are held on the fourth Wednesday of the every month.

We have found ourselves to be a very enthusiastic group of men wanting to make a difference in the council and with this enthusiasm we hope to draw new members in and for our brothers in the council, we ask for your help with the programs, so the public will see the Knights of Columbus not only with our hands out wanting a donation but to let them see that, we are doing something in their Community, for the Church, our Young Adults and Youths.

We have started up the Newsletter once again. Our Worthy Lecturer Dave De Casien will be working on this to get it published, printed and sent out as soon as he can.

Kirk Herman is handling our Basket Ball Free Throw and Poster Essay Contest and Phil Quinto is working with the Church Council at St. Isidore Church to have a Live Nativity set up on the Church’s grounds. Our 3rd Annual Polish American Dinner will be held on Sept. 18th and will need all the help we can muster for that day and should have a Adopt a Road clean the week before the dinner to make a good impression for those coming to the hall.

The council has found a “Few Brave Men,” to take the rolls we have needed to get our 1st Degree Team started. We are able to read the rolls that we portray but are asked that we do memorize them so the candidates coming into the 1st degree can get a full gist of the exemplification as it was when most of us received ours and we could always use a few more brothers to come out and learn the parts to be a Stand- In just in case one of the regular degree team members can’t make it and the main reason for this is what “Membership,” not only into the Council but into the Order as well. We are scheduling a 1st Degree Exemplification for the 29th of Sept.

If you have any questions about wanting to become a Degree Team Member contact Albert Karwowski, Degree Team Capt. or myself Patrick Sweeney, GK and we will fill you in on all the information you will need to know.

Brothers, I have only touched on a few things that are to come and many more to be brought up before the council at our meetings and if you have any idea that you think may work come out, bring it to a Program Meeting and let us know so we can work with, you will never know unless you ask. Get active. Tumosa’s retirement mass will be held on Sunday the 12th at 11:00am at the St. Rosa Lima Church in Newfield. Fr Tumosa has been our Chaplain for Council 2531 and Assembly 654 for some 15 years and would be nice if All came out to wish Father “ Fair Winds and Fallowing Seas,” to him. The Color Corp. is also to be in attendance and to be there no later than 10:30 am.
“Degrees,” We will be having a 2nd Degree Exemplification held here at Vineland Council # 2531 on the 13th of June 2011 at 8:00 pm, councils are asked to have their FS’s register candidates and to be sure they have their 1st degree membership card with them, a tie and sport coat is asked to be worn, candidates are asked to be in the Antechamber no later then 7:30 pm.

On the 2nd Tuesday of the month we will be holding a 1st Degree Team practice starting at 7:30 pm. It is about time that we get a degree team together, FS Albert Karwowski and I the GK have been wanting to have a team for some time now, Brother Albert and myself are Fill-Ins for DD Chris Tomasello Team, it’s a lot of fun, dramatic and now, if you

do not know your part you can read it though we ask that you memorize your lines. Come out, grab a part and let’s get started.

Confirmation at St. Isidore’s Church on Wed. June 15th and again our Color Corp. is asked to come out. The mass starts at 7:00 pm and we the Color Corp. need to be there at 6:30 pm. Just a hint to all CC Members when we have a scheduled event always remember that we need to be at all events a Half Hour before, so just keep that in mind.

I’ve not received a date as to when we are to start work on the D’Pollito House but, just as soon I do we’ll need “All Hands,” that are able to help out with this project, it will be a good Church and Community program, Take some pictures, send them into the Columbian Magazine and let people know that Vineland, Council 2531 does exist in the State of New Jersey, why have we not done this before?

The breakfast that we helped out with Boy Scouts would have been grate publicity for us and what we did. I’m going to bring this up at our next council meeting because I can’t understand why we haven’t done this before.

Service Program Officers: Think about what and how you want to help out this council and our Community, Church, etc. I’m going to hold a special meeting just for that, to ask you Brothers to step up and help out with these committees you have chosen, I’m going to order some Surge for Service magazines so you will know what your job is as the Director in that Committee you have chosen.

Brothers, That’s my Grand Knights Report for the month of June. at Merighi’s Savoy Inn, Landis Avenue and Union Road, Buena Vista Twp., East Vineland, NJ. The affair will begin with a cash bar from 6:30- 7:00 pm p.m. followed by dinner.

Please note that we have kept the cost of the dinner at last year’s price of $35.00 per person. Please return all RSVP’s for Council/Assembly members and for sponsored Priests by May 6, 2011

The cost of sponsoring the priests associated with your Parish will not result in a substantial burden and is really a small price to pay when showing our devotion to our Priests. The future of our Church depends on the expansion of vocations. Therefore, programs like these are essential in letting all know that the Knights of Columbus stand firmly behind our Priests and Religious.

In lieu of requesting Councils and Assemblies to donate to the Bishop’s personal charities this year, the Committee is requesting that a donation be made to support our seminarians. This suggestion is consistent with the theme of this year’s PIOP dinner, “Investing In Our Future”. In addition, the donations will be used to request a 20% matching gift from the Order’s Refund to Support Vocations Program.

If your Council or Assembly intends to make such a donation, please make your check payable to “Rev. Francis P. Araneo Chapter” and give it to FDD Carmine Amico. After the dinner proceeds from the event and the donations received will be equally divided between the Rev. Francis P. Araneo Chapter and the Blessed John Paul II Chapter to be used to support selected seminarians.

We thank you for your generous support of the future priests of our Diocese. For us Catholic’s Lent is the most important time of our Liturgical Calendar. Some may say, “How is a man who has been dead for three days risen back to life?” This is the Pascal Mysteries that our Faith teaches us. It’s hard for some to imagine that Jesus came into the world born of a virgin, to teach us his Fathers Law, then was made Sin for our transgressions to die on a cross, rose from the dead to show us that we too can have “Everlasting Life.”

If only we follow the Word that he taught us from his Father in Heaven. One of those Words was Confession. Lent is the time when we need God the most and come into Grace with him and the way to do that is threw Reconciliation. We are asked to go to confession at least once a year. It's best, if you can go once a month. As an Extraordinary Minister, I seek reconciliation about every two weeks, because when I Sin, I do not feel in my heart worthy to handle the Eucharist, unless I first experience reconciliation. So, let us all receive God’s Grace and ask for his forgiveness. You’ll be Glad you did.

On February 21st, we held our first Degree ceremony at the council, with the help of Degree Team Capt. DD Chris Tomasello, and his 1st Degree Team. we were able to receive into the council Anthony Stefano; at our meeting on the 1st. I asked Anthony, to speak a little bit about himself and what he thought of the degree. All he could say is that it was quite an experience. For those that did not attend Dave DeCasien wife catered a wonderful meal for us all and we even had enough left over for our 4th degree meeting the next night.

On the 1st of March, we held a special Business Meeting and I made a motion that the council sponsors Seminarian Zack Johnson with a check for $500.00 from the money that was raised by the Sub Sale. The motion was seconded and passed by the membership.

On the 13th we will be helping Russel Brady a 1st Degree Knight and Scout Master of Troop 89 at St. Teresa of Avilla Church in Bridgeton, by cooking breakfast for them, to help raise money, so the Boy and Girl Scouts of Cumberland Co. can go on a retreat to the USS New Jersey BB-62. Time is from 8:00 am till 2:00 pm. Some of us will need to be there at least by 6:00 am to start cooking, we will need every one that can help to please do so.

The biggest program that we have going on this month, and this is a state wide event, is our Spring Recruitment Blitz held on the 26th and 27th at all Vineland area churches. We will also have an Open House at the council hall on Sunday from Noon till 2:00 pm. We will have the wide screen plugged in showing DVD’s about our founder Fr. Michael J. McGivney, These Men We Call Knights and I’ve asked Chuck McCann our Field Agent to attend to answer any questions our guest may have about the Knights Fraternal Benefits. Light refreshments will also be served. If you have any question about the Drive, please contact Membership Director, Frank Szynal and I’m sure he will help you in any way he can.

Brothers, I am closing this report, I ask that you keep Brothers Al Siciliano, Joe Kopervos and Chap. Pres. Ray Sands in your Prayers, as they recover from their operations and physical therapies. I will be away on vacation on the 15th DGK Mike Simpkins will taking my place at the council level of the meeting that night.

Vivat Jesus

Patrick Sweeney
Grand Knight
Council / 2531

768 E. Fr. Larry our Council Chaplain, with his Spiritual presence and praying of the Rosary, Brother David, and myself, your GK. If any of you were at the last council meeting it was asked of us “what did it feel like to be on the walk” and David summed it up very nicely, “I saw all these Young People that attended this March from all over the Country speaking out against this wretched horror in their lifetime and how they want it stopped. It was very moving to see thousands of these young men and woman protecting the right for life,” it gives me hope to see this because they are our future and they want to do something about it.” Let us Pray, that these young Catholic men and women may continue to March for the “Right for Life,” and that they may see Abortion finely come to an end in their life time.

For the month of February the calendar looks like this.

The Seminarian Sub Sale is under way, you should have received by now your sub tickets in the mail you can sell or buy them or yourself “that’s what I do,” and they are good threw the 31st of March. You also have address of the Seminarians that you can write to and if for some reason you can’t use the tickets send them back to Brother Albert with a $6.00 donation so he can put it toward the seminarian fund.

Our Super Bowl Party was held this past Sunday. I’m not sure who all attended I’m sorry that I couldn't attend, but the game got started late and I knew it wouldn't get over until 11:00 pm or so and by that time I was already in bed. I do hope that all of you who attended cheered on your favorite team whichever one it was, had a good time. Sorry I pooped out on you all.

Pizza Hut Family Night, Feb. the 9th from 5to 8 pm at the Pizza Hut located on Main Rd. and Chest Nut Ave. I’ve mentioned it so many times you all know it by heart. $2.00 from adult and $1.00 from children purchase will be donated to the council, it’s “All You Can Eat,” and leave the dishes to Pizza Hut.

The 21st will be held a 1st Degree Exemplification at Council Hall 2531. All candidates need to be in the Anti-Chamber by 7:30 pm, the 1st Degree will begin at 8:00 pm. They gave me 108 books, 10 Ticket per book, $5.00 per ticket. I handed some out at the last meeting, sell what you can, if you can’t sell them all give me the Stubs and the Money of the tickets that you did sell and those Books and Tickets that you didn't. January, is going to be rather busy for the council with our Free Throw, Sub Sale and Council Social Dinner just to name a few. However, what I would like to see us achieve this new year is a 1st Degree Team.

It just came down from Supreme, and I have the letter to prove it, that we can read our roles at the exemplification now, and the reason for this is so that more council’s can have their own 1st degree team to exemplify new candidates coming into the order. Yes, they ask that you memorize your role but that’s only fitting its more direct, and meaningful when you can look at your candidates eye to eye instead of on a piece of paper. I would like everyone to think about this, there is no reason now why we cannot have a degree team in our council all we need are the role players to step forward.

I’d rather see you memorize your part then read it but it’s a step in the right direction and you just might like the role that you play and “Memorize” your part, because the more you play that role the more you will enjoy the role that you play.

Our Council's Free Throw that was scheduled for Sat. the 8th had to be moved up to Saturday January the 15th, due to the snow storm that came up on us. I spoke to Mike Simpkins, and he said he would let the news papers know of the change, it will still be held at St. Isidore’s gymnasium from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

The 24th is the March for Life in Washington DC, all of the members from the council who want to go make sure you GET REGISTERED WITH ALBERT. PER ALBERT, THE BUS CAPTAIN, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AND RESERVE YOUR SEAT. ALBERT’S NUMBER IS 856-794-3884. Bus should leave Sacred Heart Parking lot by 8:30 am. The bus will be parked at the Catholic University parking lot. Dress warm, wear a hat and bring something to eat for we may or may not be making a dinner stop on the way home. More information will come from Brother Albert when you register.

The 29th we have two events going on that day. We have the KofC Dist. Free Throw to be held at St.Isidore’s gymnasium from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and that evening at the council hall we will be holding a social dinner for all the Brothers and their families (see the flyer). The dinner social will begin at 6:30pm, This is something that I’ve wanted to have since I became Grand Knight so as to have a nice time and hand out awards.

We will be having a guest speaker joining us that evening Brother Skip Niszczak, State Chairman on Organ Donor Awareness. I asked Brother Skip at our last Fr. Araneo Chapter meeting if he would mind coming up and speaking to us on what it means to be an Organ Donor and answer any questions that we may have. As we all know our Past Grand Knight, Dane Barse is on dialysis for a failing kidney someone to think about when he is speaking to us on this matter. He will have a table set up with pamphlets and brochure to take home and read.

Brothers,
That is all have to say for this my report for the month of January 2011. Our next HA/Council meeting is on the 18th at 7:30pm until then may God Bless You All.
Vivat Jesus

Patrick Sweeney Grand Knight Council/2531
768 E. Instead of the “Macy’s Christmas Day Parade” it’s the “Holiday Parade,” the lighting of the “Holiday Tree.” I always thought it was the “Christmas Holiday Season.” If someone says to you “Happy Holiday” say to them “Merry Christmas,” Keep Christ in Christmas.

Our council meeting on Dec. 7th began at 7:35pm with the Opening Prayer by Grand Knight Patrick Sweeney, the Flag Salute and singing of the Opening Ode. I started off the meeting by reminding everyone that it is a Holy Day of Obligation, the Immaculate Conception of our Blessed Virgin Mary and also to Pray for those 2000 plus Veterans and Civilians who lost their lives this day back in 1941.

I want to say thank you to all the Brothers who helped out in our council events this past month as well as the 1st Degree Exemplification held on the 30th those that volunteered as Black Robe Guards, to Brian for preparing the food, you all did a great job and it was well appreciated by the GK, FS, the Degree Team and all that attended. 3 Brothers made their 1st Degree that night including one from our council Brother Wilson Tan.

I congratulate Brother Wilson, on making his 1st degree and I ask that we continue to help support all our Brothers coming into the council as they further their way in the order by making their 2nd, 3rd and the Patriotic Degree of all the 4th.

FS Albert Karwowski and GK Patrick Sweeney went to our monthly Fr. Francis Ararino Chapter meeting Wed. the 1st of Dec. and were asked if a bus from the Cumberland Co. area was going to the “March for Life,” in Washington DC. At the present there are only two buses, FS Al Karwowski spoke on how we could get a third bus, that there are enough Knights within our councils and outside the Cumberland Co. area that we can fill that bus.

Brother Albert is working on the details and will be our “Bus Capt.” in charge of that third bus so, if you want to go to DC for the “March for Life,” keep your ears open and read your emails as more information becomes available.

Our “Christ in Christmas” lawn poster will be going on sale after the masses at St. Isidore. There’s only a limited amount left so, once their gone there are no more. They are selling for $10.00 per poster.

A collection was taken up at the meeting on Tuesday night to help buy New Clothes for the Veterans at the Memorial Home here in Vineland. An “Out of Pocket” collection was taken up by FS Albert Karwowski and a check will sent to the Veterans Rep. at the Vineland Memorial Home. Also a motion was passed to send a check for $50.00 to the Vineland Police Dept. to help them raise money for the Vineland School Safety Patrol trip to Washington DC in June.

I’ve still yet to hear from Msgr. Burton on the St. Isidore Pancake Breakfast to be held at the churches hall. Rest a sure that once I do we will need all the hands that we can muster to help cook, clean, set-up and break down.

I spoke about a Council Social that I would like to have around the end of January I will let everyone know when as soon as I can set a date. This will be a Family type Social to hand out awards to have the members and their families get together to know one another and have a nice time. I thought of a Covered Dish type dinner. I will speak more about this at the next meeting.

Brothers,
That is all I have to say for this my report for the month of December. I wish you all a “Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year,” God Bless You All.
Vivat Jesus

Grand Knights November Report

Brothers,

November is the month of All Souls and I feel it is only proper that we should take time out for Prayer not only for our own families but also for the Brothers of the council that have gone before us in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though they are no longer with us bodily that does not mean that their Spirit’s aren’t with us at our meetings. Let us pray for our families but, let us also remember those who built this council and that the Knights of Columbus may continue to grow and that our future Knights will look back and remember us in this same Spiritual way that we will always be with them.

Council meeting commenced on Nov. 2nd at 7:35pm with Opening Prayer by GK Pat Sweeney, Flag Salute and the singing of the Opening Ode. We lead off the meeting with our Recruitment Drive held at Sacred Heart and St. Isidore Churches. Frank Szynal our Membership Director was pleased to announce that we had 6 possible recruits but only 2 that actually filled out a Form 100. One candidate’s Form 100 was turned in along with his dues to FS Albert Karwowski, he was voted upon by the membership and approved and is now awaiting his 1st Degree. Our other candidate wishes to join but not until a later date. Divine Mercy is yet to have their Recruitment Drive a planed date is yet to be worked out with both Msgr.’s Bottino and Muro.

Program Director, Albert Karwowski spoke of our Columbian Award and the activities we still need to complete even to qualify before application can be sent in these activities include Pro-Life, Community, Family and Youth. Brother Albert pointed out that we have to complete 4 projects in each category in order to earn this award. He also noted that it has been won three years in a row and we would like to see us continue but, in order to do so, our committees chairmen need to start giving our council some ideas so we can work with them to get these activities completed and be able to send the report up to Supreme before the June 30, 2011 dead line.

St. Isidore Pancake Breakfast that was schedule for the 7th of this month has been put on hold until further notice Msgr. Burton will inform the GK as to a new date and time when the breakfast will be held. On Nov. 9th from 5:00 to 8:00pm a “Pizza Hut Buffet Fundraiser,” the Pizza Hut is located on Main Rd. and Chest Nut Ave., order from the Buffet and $2.00 from the Adult and $1.00 from Kid’s purchase go toward helping raise money for the council. It’s a nice family night out, all you can eat and you get to spend time with your Brother Knights outside of working or meetings at the hall.

Sacred Heart will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner on the 14thin its church basement. The time is from 12:00 to 6:00pm. I will send out a reminder to those of you that said that you would help out so that you will not forget and leave Joe to do the work all by his self. He would like those who can help cook be at the church basement kitchen by around 07:00am those other come around 11am.

A bit of a late note to this report and that is I would like to thank all of the Brother Knights that stuck around last Saturday Night for the clean-up of St. Isidore’s church hall those Brothers were Albert, Pat, Mario, Phil, Mike, Charlie, Kirk and John Cunningham. Msgr. Burton was very happy with how clean the hall and kitchen looked and the time it took us to finish it. All in all it took us about 45 minutes, “Team Work,” that’s what it is all about.

Brothers that is all I have for this my report for the month of November. I want to wish each and every one of you a safe and a Happy Thanksgiving and the Christmas Season will be upon us before you know it so Keep Christ in Christmas.

Vivet Jesus,

Patrick Sweeney Grand Knight, Council 2531

768 E. Not at all, as matter of fact we’ve just begun.

I spoke in last month’s report about our “State Wide Blitz.” This is not just to bring members into the Order but into our Council as well. I have the Kit with instructions on how to have a successful recruitment drive at your parish and how we can have an Open House at our council for those men and their families who are interested.

We will also get the council’s new Insurance Rep. (Michael ”Pick” Conner) to speak on the benefits of being a Knight, speak of the Squires Program, etc., etc.. It sounds like a lot and it is. But, by working together we will succeed. The Knights of Columbus Supreme Office as set the Council’s quota for the “Father McGivney Award” at 10 new members and the quota to earn the “Founders Insurance Award” at 4 new insurance members. Our NJ State Officers wants us to contact those that have been out, bring them back in and those that have not paid their dues get them to pay up before we exhaust them.

To earn the Columbian Award from Supreme Office a Council must conduct and report at least four major programs in each of the Service Program categories: Church, Community, Council, Family pro-life and youth. To help achieve the award we have two Council events during the month of October one was moved ahead so as not to conflict with the other.

The “One With Christ Walk” which Brother Phil Quinto is organizing for St. Isidore and Sacred Heart parishes, is scheduled for the 30th of Oct. The time has not yet been determined. Brother Phil will be contacting you for your help. The St. Isidore Community Fellowship Breakfast is now the 7th of Nov. from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Isidore Church Hall.

The Council has volunteered its members’ time and talents to organize and run the breakfast. Chair people are Albert K and Charlie S. Besides cooking and setting up the hall, we will have tickets printed up and sold at all masses. Albert or Charlie will be contacting you for your support. Also, Oct. 11th is Columbus Day. Mayor Romano will be conducting a ceremony at Vineland City Hall. The Mayor was especially requested our presents and participation. Let’s display our support for the Knights by attending and wearing our Knights Shirts, Jackets, and Hats. The North Italy Club will serve a free lunch for all that attend. Maybe we can get a new member!

October 2010 GK Report

Volunteer Opportunity

One with Christ: October 30th 2pm to 5pm.

Volunteers needed for transportation. This is what we need to plan our events and stay on top of council business.

Our Installation of Officers was on the 26th of Aug. at Padre Pio Church. After the ceremony we all had the opportunity to fellowship in unity with a great buffet dinner. My thanks for all that attended.

3rd Degree:
Robert Johnson “Tony”, will be making his 3rd Degree on the 17th of this month in Erma, Cape May Co. at Stella Maria council 3564. For those of you that can make it to his exemplification, I encourage you to attend and show your support to our soon to be, 3rd Degree Knight. Sport Coat and tie is required, or you will not be able to enter the ceremony.

2nd Annual Polish/American Picnic:
The 19th of this September, from 11:00am to 3:00 pm. We’ll need all the help that we can get that day so, if you can lend a hand it will surely be appreciated.

State-Wide Recruitment Blitz Weekend:
It’s to be held on the 9th of September, and on the 10th of October. The plan is to have all the councils join together that weekend and have a statewide recruitment drive in our local parishes.

You can contact your Parish Pastor in writing or by visiting him in person and finding out what Mass can be set aside for this recruitment drive. You can pick any weekend so as not to conflict with your Parishes event or ours.

We have 3 churches in the area that we could hold this drive. As the Grand Knight, I put my faithful trust in the ability of Frank Szynal, our membership chairman and the council pulling together, to make this a success. I know we can get the recruits we need to increase our numbers in the council. We’ve tried this before in the past, but the state is really pushing for it this year and we as a council should give it our best effort.

I will speak to Msgr. Bottino and find out the best Sunday for Divine Mercy and our recruitment Blitz. However, being mindful not to interfere with our event schedule.

There is a new award called the Top Recruiter. I will explain more at our upcoming meeting and Supreme is awarding a special pin for anyone who recruits 10 new members into the council. Those that have been out of the council and brought back count as a new member.

This is the 10th year anniversary of Supreme Knight Carl Anderson holding the position of Supreme Knight of our order. A milestone achievement for which he should be congratulated and a reminder for us to keep him in our prayers.

Brother and Sir Knights, The month of Sept. is going to be a busy one and we’re going to need all the help we can get to keep the grounds and the hall looking nice for the Picnic. Brother Tony, wants to do a Road Clean-Up; Brother Mike, is getting together a poster contest; and we have a recruitment Blitz, so there is a plenty to do.

With God’s help I know we can get it accomplished.

Vivat Jesus,

Patrick Sweeney

Grand Knight, Council 2531

3rd Degree Ceremony

Sept.17th at 8:00pm

A 3rd Degree ceremony will be held at Stella Maria Council 3546 in Erma, NJ, Cape May County.
Candidates have to sign-in with FS no later then 7:30pm and a Sport Coat and Tie are a must be worn.
